Nickelodeon's 25th Annual Kids' Choice Awards 2012 – Highlights

After the success of BAFTAs and the Oscars, it was time for Nickelodeon’s 25th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards to kick off in style. The Kids’ Choice Awards ceremony was held at the USC Galen Center in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon at 8 p.m. ET.

Will Smith inaugurated the Choice Awards by landing on the stage on a parachute. The award function was also attended by First Lady Michelle Obama, who looked excited to be a part of the event. She presented the annual “Big Help Award” to Taylor Swift for her relentless public service efforts. Taylor was recognized for donating money to aids victims of natural disasters and also for highlighting the issue of bullying in the song “Mean”.

Will Smith was promoting the upcoming release of “Men in Black 3”, a movie that has become talk of the town courtesy the hype it started getting lately. The event was also hosted by Smith.

Will Smith’s family was also present at the red carpet of the Kids’ Choice Awards. Jada Pinkett Smith and her kids, Willow and Jaden, treaded on the red carpet looking absolutely jubilant. Jada Pinkett wore a fuchsia silk cap sleeve cropped jumpsuit by Catherine Malandrino and Kimberly McDonald jewelry. Her children were also dressed in funky and expensive outfits. Willow was seen sporting a new pink hairdo, and a Chanel dress, a vintage motorcycle jacket, and custom Chanel boots. Jaden wore a custom vintage MCM motorcycle jacket and custom MCM boots.

Some great performances were seen at the Kids’ Choice Awards by boy band One Direction and singer Katy Perry, who sang “Part of Me”.

The award function was attended by various celebrities including Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Halle Berry, Josh Hutcherson, Emma Stone and Chris Rock.

The complete list of nominees for the 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards was released earlier this year in January. Quite interestingly, a record-breaking 220 million votes were casted this year in a diverse range of 20 categories. This has been the largest turn out for Kids’ Choice Awards.

• Big Time Rush won an award for favorite music group

• Adam Sandler won the award for favorite movie actor for “Jack and Jill.”

• Selena Gomez won the best actress award for her great performance in “Wizards of Waverly Place” She also won the best female singer award becoming one of the most popular celebrity at the award function.

• Jennette McCurdy of “iCarly” won the favorite TV sidekick

• Favorite TV show was won by “Victorious”
