World’s Largest McDonald’s Coming To 2012 London Summer Olympics

McDonald’s is going to be one of the largest sponsors for the Olympic Games being held in London this year, and will open it’s biggest restaurant ever for six weeks during the 2012 London Olympic games.

World’s Largest McDonald’s will be 3,000 square-meters large (that’s about 32,292 square feet) and about half the length of a football field. It’ll be staffed by 2,000 people, who are estimated to serve more than 50,000 Big Macs and 180,000 servings of French fries. There’ll be seating for 1,500 at a time.

T meals would be served with some innovative ideas for the children to create awareness regarding a healthy lifestyle. They would include toys for the kids to encourage them to adopt a healthy and active routine and involve in physical activities.

The fast food chain is introducing the campaign about children’s health because it has been considered a contributor to the increasing rate of obesity worldwide for long and has been facing criticism from health organizations as well as people who are more health conscious.

McDonald’s global chief brand officer Kevin Newell explained about their campaign for the Olympics, saying,

“Most people when they talk about children’s well-being, they go immediately to the food, but … it’s also about education and activity. And the Olympics will set us up very nicely to launch a few things around children’s well-being,”.

For the big companies like McDonald’s, criticisms on little things can lead to huge losses. They need to adopt strategies that enable them to maintain a good reputation and increase their customer base. The sponsoring for the Olympic Games is an attempt from the fast food giant to maintain a high ranking among its competitors and gain a lead in the delivery of corporate social responsibility as well. The event will have huge crowds and therefore there is also a big opportunity for McDonald’s to earn high revenues in London this summer.
