2012 NYC’s Easter Bonnet Parade

Easter is a time when Christians celebrate the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ but other celebrations take place around that time as well. Church goers usually don hats for the occasion, the fancier the better.

It is with this theme in mind that Easter Sunday in New York City comes alive with an array of spectacular hats and bonnets, from the small and frilly to the big, bold and ‘bodacious,’ the annual Easter Bonnet Parade was a sight to behold.

Every year New Yorkers gather from Fifth Avenue and beyond to show-off their creativity in headwear. A kaleidoscope of color enchanted, surprised, delighted and wooed onlookers. Music was everywhere and crowds milled about from 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. simply enjoying the delightful Spring day and for some, the religious holiday in the City.

Pets got into the action as well and many a poodle was seen decked out in fancy head gear as well.
