George Zimmerman Released on Bond

Around midnight Sunday, April 23, 2012 George Zimmerman was released from the Seminole County Jail after meeting the conditions of a $150,000 bond set just two ago by Judge Kenneth Lester, Jr.

Zimmerman had been in custody for less than a week on charges of second degree murder which stemmed from the shooting death of Trayvon Martin a 17 year old Florida teenager on February 26.

He was charged after the Florida Governor got involved in the case and appointed a special prosecutor, Angela Corey to investigate whether charges should be brought against the self styled neighborhood watch captain.

Although there was some outrage over the granting of the bond expressed across various social media during the weekend, there was not the mass outcry that had been voiced over the State’s failure to arrest Zimmerman.

Trayvon Martin’s family expressed shock over the setting of a bond on Friday. Tracy Martin openly welted in court when George Zimmerman took the witness stand to make a statement to Martin’s family.

It is not known where Zimmerman will reside while he waits for his trial. It is thought that he will reside outside the State of Florida in a location his defense team and family hope can remain secret. His next court appearance is May 28, when he is expected to plead not guilty to the charge of second degree murder.
