Pakistan vs. Australia – Aug 31, 12 (Abu Dhabi)

Pakistan win in sweltering and humid Abu Dhabi Stadium was a true test of their character, fitness and mental strength. Weather continued testing the Stamina of both visiting teams with 12th men frequently running to the center to ensure their colleagues are kept hydrated in the center.

Pakistani captain Misbah-ul Haq (R) shakes hand with Australian cricketer David Hussey after winning the match against Australia of the second One Day International cricket match between Pakistan and Australia at the Abu Dhabi cricket stadium on September 1, 2012. Pakistan beat Australia by seven wickets in the second one-day international here on September 1 levelling the three-match series by 1-1 at Abu Dhabi Stadium.

Nevertheless poor fielding, drop catches and missed run out chances would keep on haunting Julian. Afridi’s fitness-cum-attitude is another issue requiring immediate attention. He needs to be fully fit and mentally clear about his future course of action before pursuing any more Cricket. However, an end of Misbah’s love for Aizaz Cheema bowling is definite good news.

Pakistan opening woes finally seem to be resolved now. Finally we have been able to spot a good pair in the form of Jamshed/Hafeez almost a decade after Aamir Sohail and Saeed Anwer have ended their playing career. However, the opening duo needs to ensure consistency in the times to come. Umer Akmal, Nasir Jamshed, Asad Shafiq, Azhar Ali & Hammad Azam are apparently the real future of Pakistan Cricket. However, they need to be given more chances and in reciprocity all of them need to apply themselves. Finally, Hafeez needs to learn the art of converting his fifties into centuries through his partner Jamshed. Overall, a good win but still a long way to go.
